The winger is in a strong second-string squad for tonight’s Professional Development League game against Crystal Palace at St James’s Park (7pm kick-off).
Obertan, who has yet to win over the Toon faithful, has not featured for Alan Pardew’s side since the 4-0 defeat at Manchester City late last month.
The 24-year-old – who played in last week’s 2-1 reserves win over City – is joined in the squad by midfielder Gael Bigirimana and teenager Kevin Mbabu, signed from Swiss club Servette in January.
