They last played at that ground three years ago, and former United favourite of the 1970s Tommy Cassidy has fixed up the match with his old team mate Tommy Craig. Cassidy is manager at Workington these days.
Toon Reserve team boss Tommy Craig: “We are delighted to have been invited across. We have been before a couple of times and were well-received by the people of Workington, who have always turned out.
“Because of that, we are more than happy to come across and have a game. We are finding it difficult to get an exact date but we will find one. We'll be across sooner rather than later.
“I couldn't hazard a guess as to how strong the team will be at this point. We are down on numbers. Alan Shearer has gone and Michael Owen has a long-term injury, so we are looking to get the first-team bolstered for the season ahead.”
Cassidy: “Everyone knows they are my club and it's great for them to help us out. They have had thousands of requests for games but Tommy Craig is a very good friend and this is going to happen for us.”
