Robbie Savage said he would give a Geordie taxi driver "a new taxi or £10,000, whichever he prefered".
And as the season came to a close, Savage's wife had her eyes on the Goodison Park score.
Robbie Savage: "My wife Sarah is taking a keener than usual interest in the chase for the Champions League places.
"On holiday, I had to break it to her that while on Strictly duties in Newcastle at the turn of the year, I'd bet a Geordie taxi driver that Newcastle would finish out of the top four.
"Did I wager a tenner? No. I flippantly said I'd buy him a new cab.
"So I had a vested interest when I say said that it was time for Tottenham to stand up and be counted."
