Opposition's View - We would love Dyer!

Charlton players to watch?

Our main threat is Kevin Lesbie as he is fast and attacks defenders.  Dennis Rommedahl will certainly get at defenders and hopefully create chances.

How do you rate Newcastle United?

I have always liked Newcastle.  I admire their attacking attitude and you certainly have the best fans in the country.  I think this could be the season you win a trophy, hopefully in Europe, if not one of the domestic cups is a definite possibility.

Any Newcastle – Charlton memories?

1997 and the FA Cup at The Valley.  I think Rob Lee of all people put Newcastle in front but Mark Kinsella equalised with a stunning shot.  Shame we lost the replay at St.James 2-1 (ed: The game at The Valley was Keegan’s last and the replay at SJP Dalglish’s first).

Which Newcastle player would you love to have?

It would have to be Kieron Dyer.  He can run at defenders and score goals.  He is always a threat to the opposition (ed: is he really?) I would also like to have Alan Shearer – no need to explain why because the guy is a legend!

Souness or Curbishley?

Tough choice.  I would have to say Curbishley as he has been so loyal to us when he could have left for other clubs.  We have progressed every season and this year is no different with the players he has brought in.  It would be strange to have another manager.

Prediction for the game?

I can’t see us winning but I wouldn’t bet against us.  I’m going for an exciting 2-2 draw for the Sky Cameras with two goals for Bellamy and two for Euell.
