Big Sam – sacked by Mike Ashley – has already stated he would have no issue if Newcastle were they to be relegated on Sunday saying: “You can’t show sympathy for anybody, because nobody shows any sympathy for you.”
Ironically, Ashley sacked the a man who has never been relegated from the Premier League in his life.
Allardyce may also have Kevin Nolan in his side for the encounter at St James’ Park too as old faces could come back to haunt the Magpies on Tyneside.
Carver says he has ignored texts from Geordie pal and Hammers assistant boss Neil McDonald this week in a bid to stay focused. And while Allardyce heads to Tyneside, Carver insisted that he won’t be drawn in by the West Ham manager’s cold remarks earlier this week.
Carver said ahead of Sunday’s clash: “No matter who it is I want to beat them.
“I know Sam has been the manager here and obviously Neil McDonald is at the club, who is a good friend of mine.
“But I don’t care who it is.
“You want to win games no matter who you are playing against.
“Even if there is nothing at stake, you want to win games – Sam will be no different.
“I’m not bothered about he is thinking or what he is planning coming here I am more bothered about us.
“I really am.”
And after former Newcastle star McDonald tried to get in touch with Carver this week, he had no qualms about revealing he had blanked his old mate.
Carver said: “I haven’t even spoken to Neil McDonald.
“He sent me a text and I haven’t even replied to him, he’s my mate.
“But I am not interested in West Ham, Sam or Neil.”
Newcastle must wait to see if Nolan – a cult figure at St James’ Park after his part in promotion in 2010 and a hat-trick in the 5-1 demolition against Sunderland – will be included in the team that travels to Tyneside.
One player that can’t haunt Newcastle is former No 9 Andy Carroll with the player still on the sidelines after an injury-hit campaign.
Nolan missed West Ham’s 2-1 loss to Everton due to a family bereavement last weekend.
But even if the Scouser, on the brink of his 100th league career goal, is in the side, Carver expects no favours. Having watched Joey Barton put in a shift for relegated Queens Park Rangers, Carver said: “Kevin was great for this football club.
“He’s been great for Sam.
“Everywhere he’s gone he’s been great.
“It’s like Joey last week, he didn’t do us any favours and I am sure Kevin will be the same.”
