The ex-Smoggy boss walked into the England job and not only stripped Beckham of the captain's armband but said England would "move forward" without him.
Not the thing an experienced manager would say ... on his first day in the job!
Capello has had Beckham and Michael Owen sat on the sidelines, but today he said both were in his mind.
Fabio Capello: "My main priority is to qualify for the 2010 World Cup. I think about it all the time.
"I have a group of players, Michael Owen included, that will take England forward.
"We have been following Beckham's progress in America and it is not surprising that he is doing well."
