Owen: 'Don't Panic ... Don't Panic'!

Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Liverpool extended Newcastle's run of league games without a win to 12, a sequence that has brought them only three points since they defeated Fulham with a late penalty at Craven Cottage on December 15.

That is a staggering three points from 36.

With games against Birmingham, Fulham, Reading and arch-rivals Sunderland, Newcastle can decide their own destiny.

Owen agrees the future is in their own hands.
Owen: "Obviously, if things do not pick up in the next couple of games then I would give you a different answer, and we all know that we are in trouble.

"But we also know that if we can pick up that win again, then we could jump five places up the Premier League table, and if we can string a few results together, then we can move away from the bottom of the table.

"Our results will have to improve, but the worst thing we can do is panic, and we know that we have to try and keep a cool head.

"I am sure we will get out of this, but then we have to push on and be better next time round than we have been this season."
