Owen says today that he “didn’t feel great” about himself when he left Newcastle for Manchester United soon after the Magpies were relegated.
Owen: “One of the highlights for me last season was Newcastle coming back up because, when I left, the club was really down and I didn’t feel great about myself.
“I know a lot of good people up there so it was great to see them coming back up. I think they’ll be alright as there are quite a few teams in the Premier League now who you’d say could struggle next year.
“So, if they can make St James’ Park as tough a place to go to as it used to be, I think they’ll do well.”
