Michael Owen: "If we were to win the competition the adulation here would be fantastic.
"We are not going to win the League. The top four teams are stronger than us.
"But there is obviously fanatical support here. Newcastle is a one-city team and everyone is a fan.
"You still hear about the players who last picked up silverware and winning a cup for Newcastle United would almost be like another club helping itself to three trophies.
"The adulation would be unbelievable.
"Our fans are always loyal to their team. They have had some fantastic times and some rock-bottom times but they always come out to support their team.
"Football here is in people's blood, but unfortunately success in football is not shared about.
"The League Cup has been quite good to me over the years. I've got two medals in the cabinet at home, and obviously it would be lovely to pick up a third.
"It's a tough draw against a fellow team from the Premier League , but it's a home tie, and if we can go through, it would be great to have your name in the hat.
"You never know. If you get a nice passage, as a couple of the teams did in the FA Cup last year, then you can go all the way."
