Owen Snub Could End His International Career!

So ... to our pleasure ... he pulls out of England's end of season waste-of-time friendlies against the States and Trinidad with "the sniffles", but England boss Fabio Capello is far from amused.

So much so, Owen and Chelsea's Frank Lampard have been warned by Capello that their international futures are on the line.

While not mentioning any players under threat of their position by name, the Italian was clear on his opnions of reputations.

Both Owen and Lampard have struggled to make an impact on the England team since Capello's appointment, and they are now believed to be battling to save their international careers ahead of the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Owen, 28, and Chelsea's 29-year-old midfielder Lampard have 150 caps between them, but that means nothing to Capello.

Capello: "I always make my decision about the condition of the player, the mentality and not the reputation, because I never choose a player because of the name.

"I choose players on the group and the quality - and not the name.

"If I choose the player it's because I think he is the best player, the very best at the moment.

"There will be no problems in leaving any player out.

"I am happy now. I know Defoe and Crouch very well. Ashton played in Trinidad and he is the future, because he is young.

"Ashton will be with us for the next games as long as he is fit.

"I don't understand the criticism of Ashton because the England shirt brings a lot of pressure. He is a good player."

We don't want to see Owen return from international duty injured ... as we have seen too often in the past ... but if the England boss believes "Paper Weight" Defoe; "Jolly Green Giant" Crouch anf "Fat Boy" Ashton are BETTER than Owen ... GOD HELP US!
