Owen To Stay Now Allardyce Has Gone?
There has been speculation about the striker's future almost from the moment he joined the Magpies from Real Madrid in August 2005, some suggesting he would love a return to Liverpool.
Manchester City were said to be interested, but made no move in the January transfer window, and Owen probably put them off when he stressed he wants to stay in the North East.
His current contract does not expire until next summer but Keegan is keen to open talks over a new deal.
Keegan: "It goes without saying that I want him to stay. We have to sit down with Michael at some stage.
"It is something we need to discuss. How long is left on his contract will make it an issue.
"Newcastle fans have not seen enough of Michael because of things beyond his control.
"He has never had a run of games. The first stage is getting the games under his belt."
