Perez, signed from Spanish Segunda Division club Tenerife, will do extra strength and conditioning work to prepare him for the pace and power of English football.
And Pardew: “He’s slight, and has a bit of work to do in terms of his body and getting up to speed in the Premier League.
“But he’s a fantastic talent. He’s scored a lot of goals, and we have high hopes for him.
“We hope he has a breakthrough season for us."
