Pardew Better Than We Thought? Could Be!

Yohan Cabaye fired home his third goal of the season to condemn the Red Devils to their second successive home defeat for the first time since 2002.

And Pardew was more than satisfied with his side's performance as they moved up to sixth in the Barclays Premier League, admitting the win was among the best things he has experienced during his tenure.

Alan Pardew: "One of the top (moments in charge) obviously, 41 years we've been waiting to win here as a club.

"It was a magnificent performance but I know we probably won't get the headlines because poor old United and David (Moyes)....difficult result for them.

"I asked them to play very differently today to the way we've been playing. To keep the ball and control the game and we did that. We kept the ball well.

"A great day for Newcastle United and our fans, it really is.

"I though Hatem changed the game a little bit when they were coming on to us because he just changed the emphasis, which he can do and he now knows what he needs, the work rate you need in this team.

"If I can get him in the team and playing like that every week we'll have a great side."
