Alan Pardew: “When you look at the game, as a manager, I would say we could have been 1-0 up. But then Manchester City produced what they can, unfortunately.
“They had a golden period when they scored and should have got a second. When they did score again, it was a killer.
“We were just hanging in there during that period, but you have to say that after half-time we bossed it.
“To come out like that after going 2-0 down against the champions, shows great spirit.
“Demba Ba missed a great chance at 2-1. We had what was an even better chance for Cisse in the middle of the goal. Had that gone in then this place would have gone mad.
“It was a game where we almost took the lion’s share.
“City went to a back five and you were thinking they were just hanging on but they nicked a third goal and that decided it in the end.
“There were a lot of positives, but there are no points and that’s my biggest concern.
“At 2-1, we were really in a game against a team who were right at it. So there were a lot of positives.
“But it’s zero points and that puts us under pressure now looking to QPR next week. That is a big game now.”
