The pre-season friendly in Cardiff will be played on Saturday August 11.
The Cardiff clash is the only first-team friendly in the diary at the minute, with United set to announce next week the rest of their schedule, including a proposed trip to South Africa to play in the Vodacom Challenge Cup, and a game against Portugese side Sporting Lisbon.
Alan Pardew: “We’ll be close to the season, and it’ll be a competitive game.
“I know Malky Mackay (pictured right) from my time at West Ham. He played under me there.
“He gives me advice on Championship players, and I give him advice on Premier League players, so it matches up for both myself and Malky.
“It’ll be a tough game away from home.
“It’ll be an idea of the kind of game we’ll get from the promoted sides, like Southampton and Reading, as Cardiff were in the play-offs.
“They did pretty well, and it should be a good game for us.”
