Pardew For Spurs Job?

No disrespect to Sherwood, but the man is an unknown at managerial level, so why would anyone dump the respected Andre Villas-Boas for a man with no experience whatsoever?

The caretaker boss boosted his credentials with some supporters by overseeing a thrilling victory at St Mary's, attracting the plaudits for utilising two strikers, something rarely seen under the charge of Andre Villas-Boas.

Spurs' win saw Sherwood come in from 7/2 to 5/4 for the job with Glenn Hoddle, who has openly spoken of his desire to return to the club on a short or long-term basis, second in the market at 11/2.

Holland manager Louis van Gaal is considered at 10/1 having revealed his desire to manage in the Premier League, although it looks unlikely that he would take the position before the World Cup given his reluctance to combine jobs.

Frank de Boer had headed the market but has now drifted out to 14/1 after reportedly ruling out leaving Ajax, while Fabio Capello follows at 20/1 having also been a favourite.

Coming up on the outside betting is Alan Pardew, who was cut from 50/1 to 30/1 following Newcastle's impressive 3-0 win at Selhurst Park.

Would he take the job? Who knows, but Mike Ashley would want a sizeable fee because of Pardew's infamous eight-ans-a-half year contract.
