... has cut short Remie Streete’s loan spell.
The 20-year-old defender was recalled back to St James' Park this week because of injuries to Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor, and Mike Williamson is still not 100% fit.
Streete had only just had his loan extended until January, but he could find himself in the squad to face QPR next week, rather than play this Saturday against Rochdale.
But he understands United manager Alan Pardew’s decision to recall him to St James’s Park.
Port Vale’s manager Rob Page (talking to the Stoke Sentinel): “I would do exactly the same.
“As frustrated as I am, and I would love Remie to stay, I understand Alan Pardew has a job to do as well.
“We’re borrowing his player and helping develop him. He has been outstanding for us, so I can see why he has called him back.
“Alan has injuries himself, and is protecting him for this weekend.
“There is no game for Newcastle, but he can’t run the risk of Remie getting injured for us and then Newcastle being down to the bare bones.”
