Newcastle ended a run of four successive domestic defeats with a convincing 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic on Wednesday night. The result moved the 14th-placed club five points clear of the relegation zone.
The Toon manager says "some of things that have been said in the last two weeks have been poor" ... when he must agree ... the results in the last two weeks have been "poor" too!
Alan Pardew: “Four defeats for this club is difficult to take for our fans – they live and breathe this football club.
“I’m absolutely delighted for them, and hopefully we can now kick on in the Premier League.
“It was very important that they backed us. So far in the Europa League we’ve done well, but the league doesn’t reflect well on us at the minute.
“The criticism is always from the same people – the same few.
“I think our fans understand we’re a hard-working team.
"We did a fantastic job last year. This year, we’re having things go against us.
“Therefore, we have to stick together. The majority of our fans understand that.
“It’s just a shame that some of things that have been said in the last two weeks have been poor.”
