An article in the paper suggests that we'll use the Alan Pardew compensation money to buy out McClaren's contract at Derby at the end of the season, rumoured to be around £2 million.
It's also suggested that officially a link will always be played down and a promised full season completed before the former Man Utd coach takes the reigns here as if there's been some sort of spill of the beans.
The fact that Derby have slipped away in their efforts for promotion to the Premier League means that if we were really interested then a deal will more than likely be done.
The only sticking point being as to how much McClaren is prepared to allow his strings to be pulled.
As ever, if there's news, we'll cover it on here.
