Alan Pardew: “My only message to the fans is that we’re committed to try to get the best performances we can out of the group.
“I look at the team and OK the Palace performance you could argue was slightly disjointed.
“But the other three previous games were strong in my opinion, very strong and we need to take that forward.
“Of course if we’d won against Palace a lot of this wouldn’t have been spoken about today.
“I think we’ve got a lot of new players, a good feeling with them and they’re going to need a little bit of time.
“I’m hoping we kick in pretty quickly but if we don’t we’ll have to be patient.
“We’ve not won a game yet so the teams that haven’t won a game, the pressure is on those particular managers.
“More so on me because of the back end of last year when we weren’t good enough.
“But I think we’re good enough this year and I think our results will reflect that.”
Since "our results reflect we are good enough" ... let's look at the Premier League results since Boxing Day.
