Steven Taylor, Jack Colback, Paul Dummett, Sammy Ameobi and Adam Armstrong all started the third-round tie, which Newcastle won 3-2 in extra-time.
Alan Pardew: “We’ve said about the Academy that we were centralising it.
“We weren’t making it a big spread. We’re not going to try to take boys from London or Manchester. We’re focusing on the area.
“I think that’s starting to pay dividends with the club. They have an affinity with the club, none more so than Paul Dummett, who’s taken a bit of criticism here.
“But what he lacks in technical quality sometimes, which he’s getting better at, he more than makes up with in desire for the club, defending and wanting to win.
“We’ve had some bonuses on that front.
“Sammy looks like he’s finally getting to grips with what it’s about to be a Newcastle player.”
