Alan Pardew: “It won’t give me any extra pleasure (to finish above Newcastle), I love John Carver and I love Newcastle. I want them to be fourth, five or sixth or whatever they can be.
“They’re fighting. They’ve had some terrible injuries – I feel for John (Carver). For us, it’s just about trying to claw up the league.”
Palace’s 3-1 defeat of QPR means it is nearly mission accomplished for Pardew, who has done well since he moved to South London.
“We are nearly safe. We just need to keep our heads, get ourselves another victory and we’re nearly done.
“For us, it’s a chance to stamp what we’re about on this division now and if we can do that between now and the end of the season I’ll be happy.”
