Alan Pardew (talking to the Chronicle): “We’ve won games against Liverpool and against Spurs where it could have gone against us.

"We’re thankful that it didn’t on those occasions but we can’t be too disappointed.

"We would like to have played a little bit better than we did but the most important thing is that we get the next result because the season when we finished fifth and when I’ve had really good teams in the past they’ve come back quickly.

“Although we’ve had more than a blow in terms of losing the game, to lose Moussa and Jack at Burnley is tough for us, we have to get on with it.

“We’ve got one or two coming back who will feature in the Burnley game.

“Manu Riviere didn’t get on because of the injury to Daryl (Janmaat) is in and around the squad and ready to play. Aarons should be ready to play on Tuesday I think. Coloccini might be around.

“That’s what Premier League squads are for – we’ve done absolutely superb because guys have gone out and guys have come in. We have to take it on the chin, we’re not going to moan about anything. West Ham just edged it.

“I think it’s very, very tight between the teams from fourth down to 12th even. I think there’s going to be a lot of chopping and changing right to the end of the season and we hope we’re at the right end of the season."
