A rumour swept Tyneside yesterday that Pardew had offered to resign in the wake of the club’s 3-2 defeat to Everton on Monday night ... but that will not happen!
Owner Mike Ashley and director of football Joe Kinnear were at Goodison Park for the game, in which Newcastle went into the break trailing by three goals after a shambolic first-half performance.
But Pardew, 7/2 second-favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job, did not speak to Ashley or Kinnear after the fixture.
The 52-year-old has no intention of walking away from the post - despite the flak that is coming his way from supporters.
Pardew - who admitted his team’s defending must improve after the Everton game - is now focused on Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Cardiff City.
United have made no comment on the rumours of Pardew’s resignation offer, which originated on the internet.
Twelve months ago Pardew signed a new eight-year contract at Newcastle, and he will not leave until it is paid up!
