Pardew's French Revolution More A Frog Chorus!

Last updated : 21 August 2013 By Footy Mad - Editor

"Le Toon" failed to inspire the fans at St James Park when they settled after the January influx (after a half-decent start).

11 out of 31 players in the Newcastle squad are French talking, and Alan Shearer's concerns are starting to become reality.

Whether they grow after an embarrassing defeat like that at Manchester on Monday, we can only hope, but they sure as hell didn't bounce back after the Mackem shambles and that worst performance in living memory ... the 6-0 to Liverpool!

Six of Pardew's French imports were on the receiving end of a 4-0 thrashing to a Manchester City side.

The "French Eleven" may become twelve, because Pardew and the Womble were in France last night sampling frogs legs, snails and a football match.

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I don't think it's a healthy thing to have too many French players in one dressing room. If things start to go against you then little cliques appear [in the dressing room].

"I know Arsenal had a lot of French players and went on to be successful. But I don't see Newcastle being that successful."

But ... how French were Wenger's "Invincibles" of 2003/04.

Unbeaten all season, they were perhaps the greatest EVER Premier League side.

But Arsene Wenger's strongest starting eleven consisted of just three Frenchman: Thierry Henry, Robert Pires and Patrick Vieira ... and they were three of France's greatest ever exports!

Not the French version of Joe Bloggs that Pardew has brought to Tyneside,

Nevertheless, Pascal Cygan, Gael Clichy, Jeremie Aliadiere and Sylvain Wiltord were all utilised as regular alternatives by Wenger, as a back up.

The team which QPR strung together last season contained desperate gulfs in communication, and the predominately African squad which saw Portsmouth sink into the Football League abyss in 2010, is a warning that Shearer has already noted

At least Paul McCartney's Frog Chorus was "We All Stand Together".
