The former Nottingham Forest defender has yet to show the fans that he is worthy of holding down the right-back position because he gives away needless free-kicks on the edge of the box - wading in when he should be standing his ground.
More than one ex-Newcastle United defender has questioned his lack of brain cells, kicking wingers when he should be out-witting them.
But he remains unrepentant - and insists he will not be changing his game.
James Perch: “It must be something about me – I don’t know what it is.
"I like to throw myself about a bit, I suppose, and sometimes you get booked doing that.
“I know I’ve got four yellow cards but to be honest I think there are a couple that were never yellow cards. Saturday was, but maybe a couple haven’t been.
“I’m not going to change my game though.
"Getting stuck in is not something I’m going to stop soon, it’s just something in my game.
"It won’t play on my mind on Saturday.
"If I’m looking at it now, I’m thinking I’ll try not to get booked but during the game if there’s a tackle there to be won I’ll go for it, and if I lose it and get booked, I can’t do anything about it.”
I can think of a sentence that has the following words in it - "thick" "as" "shit".
