Ayoze Perez will be unveiled as a Leicester City player today.
Thursday morning has seen Sky Sports put it up as a ‘breaking news’ story.
The Spanish striker having passed his medical and the broadcaster saying they have been told the £30m transfer will be formally announced later today.
Fair to say there have been a lot of split opinions on Ayoze Perez since he arrived at St James Park back in 2014.
Signed from Tenerife in the second tier, some Newcastle fans at the time were so underwhelmed by the signing he was even referred to as the ‘Spanish Waiter’ by a minority, such were the low/nil expectations.
He will go down in the record books as having been Newcastle’s top scorer in each of these past two seasons, yet fans are still split to a large extent.
Not so much thinking of him as the ‘Spanish Waiter’ but somebody who continues to blow hot and cold. Scoring nine goals in the final 11 weeks of the 2018/19 Premier League season but only three in the first six months of the campaign.
Next season at Leicester, we will now get a much better idea of whether Ayoze Perez is a part-timer or a £30m striker.
