Former Newcastle United hero Micky Quinn has taken to Twitter to react after the Magpies beat Barnsley 2-0 on Tuesday evening.
The Magpies went into the game one point behind league leaders Norwich City, and with three victories in a row, Rafael Benitez's men were full of confidence as they travelled to Yorkshire.
After a goalless first half, Newcastle struck early in the second period as Dwight Gayle converted from close range after a scramble inside the area, and Gayle made it two by running onto a through ball and lofting over goalkeeper Adam Davies.
Newcastle not only picked up a comfortable win and a clean sheet, but also went top of the Championship table as Norwich threw away a 2-0 lead at Fulham to draw 2-2.
Benitez will now be hoping to make top spot his own as Newcastle look to win promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, and with four straight wins, it's hard to see who can stop the Magpies right now.
After the final whistle on Tuesday, former Newcastle striker Micky Quinn – who hit 59 goals in 115 games for the Magpies – took to Twitter to react to the club's latest victory.
Quinn stated that it was a 'fantastic win' for Newcastle, and also celebrated going top of the table, even adding the #Rafalution hashtag, used to acknowledge Benitez's rebuilding work at St. James' Park.
