How often over the last five have we heard the frustration of the Toon Army and those words that seem to be repeated over and over again "I'd get Dyer fit again ... then sell him"?
If Manchester City, West Ham or Spurs are keen to sign Dyer, as reported, now is their chance.
Mick Quinn: "I think Kieron will be frustrated, but when a new manager comes in certain players will get moved on.
'Pieman' Understands Toon Frustration At Dyer
"The kid cannot help the fact he's had injuries, and you have to feel sorry for him, but perhaps a move will also be right for Kieron now after eight years at the club.
"A change of scenery might be the best bet for him, and perhaps football will see the player we all know he can be on his day.
"Hopefully his luck can change, because he hasn't had much of it has he? But I don't think that fans will be thinking 'we didn't see enough of him'. I think it's more a case of 'we hardly saw you at all'.
"That's the disappointing thing for him. Perhaps there will be some pleased to see him go, and I can understand why they feel that way.
"It's not like he scored 20 goals last season and has been Mr Consistent. And if he isn't the type of player the new manager wants, there is no point him staying anyway."
