Players Turn On Shearer

Are Newcastle United's players going it alone to sort out why they have started the season so badly. It certainly seems that way as they held a crisis meeting on Sunday. Graeme Souness certainly seems at a loss to explain what is going wrong, so his players went behind his back.

Souness cancelled their day off and ordered his full first-team squad in for a session after the dreadful 1-1 draw with Fulham at St James' Park.

The players know fans are sick of hearing the same junk from the management prior to every game this season ... "our season kicks off today!" then seeing their team fail to produce.

Indeed, United could be going to Blackburn Rovers - where they have never won in the Premiership - on Sunday bottom of the Premiership table if Sunderland beat West Brom at the Stadium of Light 24 hours earlier.

According to the Evening Chronicle skipper Alan Shearer was under fire as the United players thrashed it out among themselves. And one player just dying to see Souness fall is former striker Craig Bellamy, who is ready and waiting for them. United have won only one of their last 15 Premiership games - at Fulham in May - and desperately need to put that right.
