A source close to Ashley told the Chronicle today: “Mike is thinking about being in his seat on Saturday.
“He has already said that if he is to remain in charge of Newcastle, he will go to games.
“When the club came off the market last year Mike went to the games during the run-in.”
But, with tempers rising on Tyneside by the day as fans are talking about organising a protest march, we hear Northumbria Police are set to discourage the owner from making an appearance.
Our source at SJP: "He won't come. Even if he wanted to - and I seriously doubt he would even consider it - people here would advise against it.
"I'm sure he knows the bad feeling on Tyneside more than anyone else. He's no fool.
"And I'm sure he would not let his family be subject to the hatred that the fans would vent at him.
"He's seen it first hand, that's why he stopped coming when we played Hull City here, and the fans wanted to string him up."
