The 55-year-old Welshman, who was in charge at the Britannia Stadium for a second spell after being reappointed in 2006, met with the chairman on Tuesday and it was then revealed that they had parted ways.
"Stoke City and Tony Pulis confirm that they have mutually agreed that Tony will leave the club with immediate effect." said a statement released by the club following the meeting between the two parties.
For Pulis, the end of the line has come.
Despite his success with the club and his achievement of keeping the Potters in the Premier League since their arrival back in the 2008/09 season, his style of play has grown tiresome to the faithful at the Britannia.
And having voiced their opinions over the last few months, it seems the fans will be getting the change they have been shouting for.
