I agree there was no fight on Sunday, and too many didn't fight back in 1990 - Aitken, Askew and Dillon for starters.
Quinn obviously has doubts about Pardew, as he says the United boss should have his position "reviewed in the summer".
Mick Quinn: "The aftermath of the Tyne-Wear derby was always going to be immense – but when Sunderland turn up and pick their biggest win since 1979, I suppose the massive reaction is no surprise.
"Alan Pardew’s position has came under intense scrutiny.
"But if you ask me if he should be sacked right now, I would say no.
"Everybody is upset about losing to Sunderland, and certainly the manner of it.
"It was a poor performance that lacked bite.
"And on the whole it has been a poor season when you take away the Europa League adventure, going out early on in both domestic cups and winning just one away game in the Premier League.
"But Pardew should be allowed to lift his team and finish the last five games by winning as many as he can.
"Then, and only then, should Newcastle sit down and assess where they are and where they want to be.
"In many ways O’Neill has every right to question why those players didn’t want to do it for him.
"I was surprised Sunderland sacked him but they will argue now that it was the right decision after Sunday’s game.
"But I don’t think that changing manager now would benefit Newcastle, far from it in fact.
"When a team is dead on their knees like Sunderland were under O’Neill that is valid enough reason to dismiss a manager.
"I can see why the Geordie fans’ confidence in the regime has taken a bit of a hit.
"But sacking another manager does not seem like the answer at this moment in time."
