Mick Quinn has brought us news that ‘Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has confirmed an agreement has been made regarding the sale of the club.’
The radio presenter and Newcastle fan getting just a little bit excited that at last it appeared the takeover was happening as he used his Twitter account to retweet that ‘Sky Sports News’ message to all of his 132,000 followers.
Mick Quinn followed up the ‘Sky Sports News’ revelation with a Twitter message of his own:
“It looks like an agreement has been reached between Staveley and Cashley to sell Newcastle United.
“Bye Bye Mike.”
Sadly, all is not as it seems.
However, a fake account is made up to look as similar as possible to the real one.
Quinny bravely stuck to his story and said he had heard similar from other sources:
“I’ve heard from 3 different people today there is announcement concerning the sale of @NUFC
“It looks a real positive move forward to Ashley Selling.
“The last thing I want to do is string them magnificent Newcastle fans along again, hopefully my info is correct so we are sitting tight with fingers crossed.”
As somebody has already said, we will only believe it when we see Amanda Staveley at St James Park in a Toon top, though even then it will have to be carefully examined to see if it has been photoshopped…
