Rafael Benitez is currently weighing up whether to extend his Newcastle United contract.
According to the Telegraph, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has been told to carry on as usual, despite reports suggesting that a takeover deal has been agreed.
Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan announced yesterday that he had agreed a deal with Mike Ashley to buy Newcastle.
However, the takeover talk came out of the blue for Benitez, who was shocked at the developments at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle have now played down the takeover talk to their current manager.
The Magpies boss has been informed that no takeover is imminent and that he needs to carry on with his job as usual.
The takeover talk complicates Benitez’s contract talks with Newcastle even further.
Ashley and Benitez have been discussing a new deal in the past few weeks, but with so much uncertainty around Newcastle, the Spaniard has seemingly been reluctant to extend his stay.
Benitez has just a matter of weeks remaining on his current deal at Newcastle, and he has already had offers from Italy and Spain.
If nothing is sorted soon, it seems inevitable that he will leave.
