Rafael Benitez wants a Newcastle backlash - starting against Birmingham City next weekend.
The Magpies were well beaten at St James’s Park by play-off chasing Fulham on Saturday, with 16-year-old Ryan Sessegnon netting twice.
United, top of the Championship table, hadn’t lost any of their previous 11 league games before the Cottagers defeat, and Benitez is eyeing the trip to St Andrew’s as the ideal opportunity to bounce back.
They’ve already drawn at B9 this season, in the FA Cup, but have had the better of Gary Rowett’s, then Gianfranco Zola’s, Blues in league and cup on Tyneside.
“The key for me is to see the reaction of the team now,” Benitez told the Newcastle Chronicle.
“We have some time to work together and prepare the game at Birmingham.
“The fans are amazing, and have been amazing through the whole year.
“We have to make sure they continue to enjoy things, especially at the end of the season.”
The fans weren't THAT great. Many walked out after the third Fulham goal, and boos rang around SJP at half-time.
