Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez has hailed the “fresh legs” of Christian Atsu after the man on loan from Chelsea sealed the 2-0 win at Wigan.
The Spaniard was asked in his post-match Press conference whether he wanted to sign the Ghana star in January.
However, Benitez gave little away and was only focused on what Atsu can offer in the next game on Saturday away to Burton Albion.
When asked about Atsu’s contribution, Benitez said: “We needed fresh legs and a little bit of pace.
“He can do that and did it well.
“That was the ideal situation for us, we needed the second goal to finish the game.”
And responding to talk of a January move for Atsu, he replied: “At the moment he is signed up for the next game with Burton so I am pleased with that.
“We don’t talk about the market now.”
