Ranson Family Has Mixed Feelings About The Magpies!
Ranson: "Sam was born north of the Tyne during my four years playing at St James's Park, so he's officially a Geordie. Even though we moved to Manchester when he was only a baby he has always supported Newcastle - he'll be with me at Barnsley tomorrow and in among the Toon Army at Old Trafford on Sunday.
"His jaw dropped when he heard the news - it was his dream tie so obviously he's delighted. He is due to be on holiday with his pals in Greece but he'll be coming back for the game.
"I think it's the plum tie of the round. Newcastle are one of the biggest clubs in the country and their first trip to the Ricoh should make it a fantastic evening.
"There are lots of links between the two clubs - I was at Newcastle during Kevin Keegan's first spell as manager, Chris Coleman was his captain at Fulham and, last but by no means least, our vice-chairman Gary Hoffman takes over as chief executive of Northern Rock a couple of days after the game.
"The additional revenues are a tremendous boost but, more than that, it's a great occasion for everybody concerned - me, Chris, the players and the supporters.
"Everybody is looking forward to it; we're delighted to welcome such a big club with a magnificent following."

Came to Newcastle from Birmingham, having appeared in the FA Cup final with Man City. Didn't start too well and had the crowd on his back, but won them over without being spectacular. One of many players we bought at that time (late 1980s) who were well past their sell-by date.
