Ranson Gets His Wish ... At Last!
Outgoing Coventry chairman Joe Elliott believes new owner Ray Ranson has what it takes to get the Sky Blues promoted to the Barclays Premier League.
Coventry are set to avoid administration after Ranson's SISU Capital consortium completed their protracted takeover at the Ricoh Arena on Friday.
The Coca-Cola Championship club, who are around £38million in debt, had been given a 4pm deadline to complete the deal and prove their solvency, or allow accountants to take control of their finances and incur a mandatory 10-point deduction.
Barely half an hour before the deadline, Ranson proved to be City's saviour.
Elliott believes the club can now go from strength to strength and return to the top flight.
"Ray brings a lot of professional business skills with him," Elliott told the club's website.
"He has the desire to own a football club and I think he will bring the skills the football club needs to get back into the Premier League.
"He is a genuine all-round good guy and is the kind of person you can have fun with, but at the same time he can be serious when he needs to be.
"I am excited beyond words. This day has been a long time coming and it has been a rollercoaster, but it has all been worth it."
