He has been on the bench in recent games, but will be thrown in at the deep end as York fight to stay in the Football League.
The 20-year-old defender joined the Magpies academy in 2012 and has regularly featured anywhere across the backline for the club’s Under-21 side.
His performances for the youth team impressed first-team manager Alan Pardew enough for him to be handed his senior debut in the FA Cup third-round defeat to Leicester City at the start of January.
He has now linked up with the Minstermen on a one-month temporary deal, and is expected to go straight into the squad for Saturday’s clash with Stevenage.
