Bolton have refuted suggestions that Sam Allardyce could return to his old stomping ground, and they have also ruled out Nigerian coach Samson Siasia who reporters claim has been lined up to replace manager Gary Megson.

A report on Tuesday suggested Siasia would be on his way to the Reebok Stadium after leading his nation's under-23 side at the Olympics.

In a statement on their website, Bolton said: "The story has no basis in fact whatsoever."

Siasa, however, responded to the article in an British newspaper by telling KickOffNigeria.com: "Bolton made contact with my agent a week ago.

"Things are almost concluded and I expect to go to England by the 24th of this month."

Meanwhile Fulham have denied speculation they are planning to replace manager Roy Hodgson with John Collins.

The Cottagers' prospects of escaping relegation from the Premier League look bleak following Saturday's 3-1 defeat by Sunderland, increasing doubts over Hodgson's future.

The 60-year-old has failed to lead the club out of the bottom three and they remain six points adrift of safety with just five games to go.

Fulham statement: "The club would like to inform supporters that the articles that have appeared are untrue.

"Unfounded speculation concerning our football manager's position is unhelpful, particularly at a time when the club is focused on preparing for Saturday's important fixture at Reading."
