Newcastle fans were feeling pretty hard done by this week when top transfer target Loic Remy snubbed them to join QPR.
But it’s now emerged that the Magpies paid for the Frenchman to stay in London the night before he signed for the Hoops.
Mike Ashley and co. splashed out for a hotel room and a trip to a West End show for Remy and his missus.
He was then due to fly to Tyneside the following morning to complete his transfer. A small investment to smooth a multi-million pound signing, you might think.
Unfortunately, Remy overslept, missed his flight and ended up making the short journey to Loftus Road to move there instead, reports the Mirror.
That’s where hospitality gets you, folks!
