"They've had two very solid seasons. But Peter, my colleague, has been under a bit of pressure - and I find that rather distasteful, to be honest," said Robson today.
"People have short memories. They only remember the last three months.
"They've forgotten the last seven years, and I think people should be better than that."
Robson backed Reid to keep Sunderland up, though only so we can continue beating them in derby clashes.
"He'll see it through because he's a tough lad and he's been there before. He'll soldier on.
"After Sunday's game, I wish him good luck.
"It took a bit of pressure off him (Beating shite Derby recently) and boosted their league position.
"After Sunday, it's no fun for me if they get relegated because I want these games to be forever.
"It's part of our football calendar, Newcastle and Sunderland. We don't want either of us in a different league, do we?"
