Such was the win, he has hailed it as the best achievement of his managerial career so far.
The Canaries, who were rock-bottom when Roeder took over in November, needed a win against QPR at Carrow Road to secure their status for another season.
They achieved it in style, winning 3-0 thanks to goals from Ched Evans, Mark Fotheringham and Darel Russell.
Glenn Roeder: "This was a brilliant day for everyone connected with Norwich City.
"We don't really want to be celebrating just because we stayed up but when you consider where we've come from it's only right that Norwich fans should celebrate, and celebrate for a few days if they want to.
"When I came here we looked dead and buried. I don't know how I kept a straight face when I went into that job interview telling them I would keep Norwich up.
"You tell me any other club that has only got eight points in November and ends up avoiding relegation.
"I managed to keep Newcastle up a few seasons back and then get them into Europe the following season but considering all the circumstances I would say this is the best moment of my managerial career so far.
"It's been achieved with a lot of help along the way and I've got to mention my backroom staff (Lee Clark and Paul Stephenson) they have been absolutely superb all the way through and of course we couldn't have done it without the players as well - they have all played a part, including the lads we have on loan.
"Some of them are still in their teens and they have done an excellent job for the club."
