City have been without a manager since Martin Allen left 12 days ago, but Mandaric is hopeful he can make an appointment by the end of the week.
Mandaric and Roeder struck up a friendship some time ago and the ex-Portsmouth boss is said to be impressed by the way Roeder conducted business.
Roeder Still Hangs On
But the bookies have the ex-Toon boss well down the list of favourites.
