Glenn Roeder: 'The expectation levels now and the hype that surrounds professional football have never been greater and the wonderful thing about football is that we are all allowed to have our own opinion.

'But one thing that has changed over the last 10 years or so is that most supporters think they are good judges.

'I haven't got a problem with that either, but they watch so much football on the television, they listen to all the clever people that have never been brave enough or good enough to try management and they suddenly think they're experts.

'But I never ever, ever, ever worry about anything like that.'

Is that a dig at Alan Shearer?

Roeder has often said the likes of Mark Lawrenson, Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer (on Match Of The Day) are the voice of football but none of them has ever managed a club.
