New Lazio coach Davide Ballardini is looking to add to his options at either end of the pitch.
And while Xisco has been mentioned as a target Ballardini remains keen on Coloccini.
Former Deportivo La Coruna team-mates Coloccini and Xisco cost United more than £16 million last summer.
Coloccini remains well regarded on the continent, including in Italy, where he spent a brief spell with AC Milan.
And it is felt that Spain Under-21 international Xisco may provide Bellardini’s frontline with extra physical presence and complement the playmaking skills of Argentine ace Mauro Zarate.
