Allardyce is confident he can turn around Newcastle's fortunes if he is given five years.He is right in saying, "I said at the start I needed five years", but speculation suggests club bosses are running out of patience.
He insists he will not even contemplate resigning if Newcastle lose to Stoke in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
Allardyce told the News of the World: "No. Why should I?
"It is 53 years since they won anything domestically here, so it is a big job to turn this club around.
"I said it would take me three to five years - and I have only been here eight months.
"The whole world thinks we are going to get beaten so we have to go there and use that as a motivational tool.
"We have to accept that pressure but it's in our hands. We can only relieve the pressure by winning."
