Former Leicester City and Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage suggested on the BBC Radio 5 live 606 on Saturday evening (January 9) that Newcastle United should move for either Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin or Saido Berahino of West Bromwich Albion.
“I think Charlie Austin for Newcastle would be a good buy,” said Savage. “Berahino.”
Austin has been on the books of QPR since 2013 and has a contract that runs until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old is one of the best player in the Championship and is a proven Premier League striker.
The Englishman scored 18 goals and created 23 chances in 35 Premier League games for QPR last season.
Austin has struggled with injuries this campaign, but he has still scored 10 goals and created 17 chances in 16 Championship matches.
Berahino has been on the books of West Brom his entire professional career so far and has a contract until June 2017.
The 22-year-old is one of the more promising young strikers in the Championship, but he is struggling for form at the moment.
The former England Under-21 international has scored just three goals and created only four chances in 15 Premier League games so far this campaign.
