However, teenage full-back Shane Ferguson seems to 'tick all of the boxes' and the player who is being courted by both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, is poised to sign a new five-year deal that will commit him to Newcastle until 2016.
The 19-year-old's representatives have been in talks with Newcastle officials this week, and an agreement on a new deal is close.
